Eileen,

Sorry for posting on an old topic - but above, you say that when a recurring contribution fails, "The correct behaviour here is a bit disputed - I'm of the camp that says a contribution should be created but the status should be 'failed'".

Has this dispute since been settled?  I'd like to write some enhancements to the PayPalProIPN.php which hinge around this dispute - and if you know who on the core team has been involved in this debate, please let me know!  I want to make sure my general approach is correct before I start writing code.

I think you'll probably find Joe Murray is in my camp and Dave G is the one who represents the position of the other camp (ie. he has heard the arguments in favour of it & is able to articulate them I believe.) You should discuss with Dave I would say

Since this post I discussed with Dgg on IRC & he agrees with keeping failed transactions in the database - so we have agreement on the right approach (but not any movement towards implementation right now)

To bring it back around - is there any further work on this yet? Is there better editing of auto-renewing memberships in 4.1 or 4.2 as said by civiteacher?
