How easy will it be, to switch over from this calendar, to the Calendar + Views + CCK combo, when it becomes operational?

Trivial. The calendar is one page on your site. To switch that from civicrm_events to a View is just a matter of making the View and then disabling the civicrm_events module. The links to each event stay the same.

My pleasure.
