Nothing in the logs that was all too helpful

In fact nothing that pointed to what caused the 500 error

As an aside, is there a way to upload the csv to the server and then import when the file is local on the server?

We have seen this happen before as well.  I fact we current situation where we can only import 2000 participant records at a time for one of our installs; very frustrating.  Interesting when we try this same import on a smaller box on a different platform, it works fine, so it's not a processing power situation, its some config thing.   We'll post once we figure it out...

If you can't wait, and you understand the data module you can import them directly into the database as lobo suggests
