Last time I did the automated install for this. I'm not entirely certain how to install this one over the old one.

So do I copy these newer files on top of what is on my site? Is that all it takes?

We'll be announcing the CiviDiscount improvements as a Make It Happen later today or so. In the meantime, you can help get the ball rolling by making a contribution here:

http://civicrm.org/civicrm/contribute/transact?reset=1&id=27

Any amount large or small helps us get towards our goal.

We hope to have a better functioning discount module in the next 2-3 weeks if we make good progress with the MIH. A list of things to be addressed and fixed can be found on github here:

https://github.com/dlobo/org.civicrm.module.cividiscount/blob/master/README

Thanks. When I have some extra funds I'll have to see about throwing some towards the project.

Hello all,

After being severely disappointed by the original CiviCRM Discount module for Drupal not working with 4.1.1, I checked out CiviDiscount. I created the extensions directory, and installed it. And now I cannot reach the mythical administration screen for the discounts.

I've tried www.mydomain.com/civicrm/cividiscount?reset=1

And all it does is take me to the CiviCRM home page. Nothing for managing discounts. What am I doing wrong?

What I've Done:

1) Installed the CiviDiscount 4.1.1 extension here.
2) Followed the instructions for installation here.
3) Ensured I had imported the SQL, and flushed the menus.

The CiviDiscount stuff needs a fair bit of love and care and upgrades for 4.2 and later. We have a Make It Happen for this:

http://civicrm.org/content/make-it-happen#discount

if your org / client can help fund this initiative that would be great and help us get a stable release out

Thank you for responding, but....I'm not running 4.2. I never said anywhere in my post that I was running 4.2 nor that I was planning on upgrading to 4.2.

I understand the necessity to get things going on this extension for 4.2, but I was hoping I'd get some clarification on what I did right and what I did wrong in 4.1.1. It seems to work for others, but not for me.

The only version that is being updated is 4.2.  You can get the 4.1 version off of github, but it's buggy and there is no good upgrade path.

I know I won't be able to get anything out of the client, as they're one of those ones who doesn't understand why it wasn't there in the first place and won't provide funding towards fixing it (you know the type). But maybe once I get paid I could chip in a little myself. Won't be able to do much since I'm just an independent contractor who does occasional CiviCRM work. But it would be something, at least.
