Wordpress Install Failure - Smarty error
February 27, 2013, 01:45:54 pm
Good Afternoon

Currently when attempting to enter the civicrm wordpress admin backend after a 'successful' install, the civicrm admin bar does not appear, and several of the following errors appear:

Quote
Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/common/action.tpl" in <site root>/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1093

This appears four times, twice at the top of the page, and twice in the "CiviCRM News" widget on the dashboard.  Additionally, the following appears on the bottom of the page after "Access Keys:"

Quote
<site root>/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1093
Help" href='javascript:CRM.help("
Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRM/Contact/Page/DashBoard.hlp" in <site root>/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1093
", {"id":"accesskeys","file":"CRM\/Contact\/Page\/DashBoard"})'>

I am trying to install Civicrm 4.3.Alpha3 on Wordpress 3.5.1.  Wordpress is almost entirely stock, with about three plugins currently on it (Buddypress and Importer) and articles/pages.  At first I was trying to multi-site it with another website, but kept getting the same error; I backtracked and did a fresh install (from the .zip file) on a blanked database (or at least one with every table starting in 'civicrm' dropped), and had the same result.

Not sure if its that odd looking location for an access key that's causing it, or something else.  I did look to try to find 'CRM/common/action.tpl' and no 'common' folder exists.

Additionally the template folder is set to 0755 permission.

I'd appreciate any assistance in finding out the result of this.

Thanks
Dan

templates are in the templates folder, so when looking for the file you should check in templates/CRM/common/action.tpl (that's also where Civi is looking).
Try asking your question on the new CiviCRM help site.

Hmm; thanks for that.  Looked in the

"<site-root>/wp-content/plugins/civicrm/civicrm/templates/CRM/common/" folder and no  "action.tpl" exists there.

Hmm action.tpl doesn't appear to be in the latest repositories - looks to be eliminated in the 4.2-4.3 change.  I think it looks like it was directing to that set of files mentioned above from an entry in the wordpress database, as deleting the entire site and rebuilding it appears to have fixed the issue.

The issue looks to have been caused by having installed 4.2.6, uninstalling that, and then installing 4.3.Alpha3, by deleting the plugin manually (deleting all civicrm database entries and deleting the civicrm files manually).

Hopefully this helps anyone else dealing with this error.
