Upgrading from Drupal 6 and CiviCRM 3.1.5 to Drupal 7 and CiviCRM 4.3.6
October 24, 2013, 06:37:44 pm
Hello,

I am currently running Drupal 6 and CiviCRM 3.1.5 and I want to upgrade it to the latest Drupal 7 and CiviCRM 4.3.6.

What would be the best approach?

Should I upgrade Drupal first and then CiviCRM or vice versa?

Thanks in advance.

Eileen

I think I would upgrade CiviCRM first - although you can 'skip versions' with Civi I think 3.1.5 to 4.4 (which is out now - don't do 4.3.6) that's a big jump & I expect you'll need to do it in a couple of steps. I'd probably target 3.4 first & then backup & do to 4.1 (which involves altering the uf in civicrm.settings.php to Drupal6) & then try from 4.1 to 4.4

If your Db is huge you may need to add some indexes manually & remove them from the upgrade.
