@suz Thanks for chipping in. Your kind of scenario is the sort of thing many of us would like to create. Unfortunately, progress on this seems to have stalled due to lack of time and resources. However, one of the roadblocks has been addressed recently, which is good news:

This stores the path to wp-load.php in Civi's settings during installation and will allow Civi to bootstrap WordPress reliably. As a result, the issues I identified in my audit (link above) can now be addressed.
