Should the photo thumbnail show in a profile form used on the front-end?

I can see the thumbnail and click on it to view or download the photo in backend screens, but using the profile on the front end in view mode nothing is displayed (the label but not content) and in edit mode there is the text box and browse button to enter a new file and the link to delete a file but no filename or thumbnail is displayed.

Civicrm v2.0.2 and Joomla 1.5.3
If this is the same problem as was fixed above how do I fold it back from 2.1 to 2.0?

there were a few issues with this on 2.1. So you'll have to backport multiple patchsets from 2.0. The ones that i know of are:

This is very helpful!! Only one concern: The contact photo gets scaled into a square; if the original file is rectangular, this results in distortion. Any way to change this behavior?

Hi Pete -
The Contact Photo data element has been added to the core user interface for 3.2 AND the problem of "scaling to square" is fixed. We're still playing around with the best way to display the image in the Contact Summary screen - but you can try things out on the 3.2 sandbox:

Edit a contact records and upload a photo using the Browse/Upload Image field.

Very cool! I like especially how the photo shows up right at the top of the screen. I will add this to the list of things to look forward to in 3.2 =)
