Unable to use CiviCRM post-install, because of XML data issues
September 08, 2008, 12:50:36 pm
Hello.

I have installed CiviCRM 2.1.beta3 on Joomla 1.5.6 using a shared Dreamhost hosting plan. I am able to install it via Joomla's admin panel (component install), but am unable to load any of the CiviCRM pages, such as Administrater CiviCRM, CiviCRM Home, etc.

I can click on CiviCRM under components, but that is about it, however, when I click on the link for, say, CiviCRM Home, I get the message:

Quote

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'XML data could not be loaded. Make sure you specified the correct path.' in /home/.dudette/[account]/[domain]/sfcm/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/IDS/Filter/Storage.php:217 Stack trace: #0 /home/.dudette/[account]/[domain]/sfcm/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/IDS/Filter/Storage.php(108): IDS_Filter_Storage->getFilterFromXML() #1 /home/.dudette/[account]/[domain]/sfcm/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/IDS/Monitor.php(167): IDS_Filter_Storage->__construct(Object(IDS_Init)) #2 /home/.dudette/[account]/[domain]/sfcm/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/IDS.php(113): IDS_Monitor->__construct(Array, Object(IDS_Init)) #3 /home/.dudette/[account]/[domain]/sfcm/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/Invoke.php(74): CRM_Core_IDS->check(Array) #4 /home/.dudette/[account]/[domain WITHOUT .com after]  in /home/.dudette/[account]/[domain]/sfcm/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/IDS/Filter/Storage.php on line 217

I am suspecting that it is the domain part without the .com after.
It more accurately says, "[subdomain].dreamhoster", instead of "[subdomain].dreamhosters.com"

Anyone have any solutions for this?

Thanks in advance,
Einar Hjauriksson

Can you delete this file:

media/civicrm/upload/Config.IDS.ini.
I am not sure if this will solve your problem, but you can try ...

I am not sure where Config.IDS.ini would be. I cd into the com_civicrm directory and ran " find -name'Config.IDS.ini' " to no avail.

Got it. Thanks. I kept thinking it was still in admininistrator/components/com_civicrm/... sorry for that.
It works now that I renamed the file to .backup (for backup and deactivation).

Do you know why it does not work with this file there though?

Just to add another variable, I had moved my domain by cPanel Home Directory backup/restore from a MySQL 4.1 host to a MySQL 5 host, and got this error.

Anyway, renaming this file also cleared this error for me in Joomla 1.5.7 and CCRM 2.1.

Thanks,
Ken

hey, it works for drupal, too.

drupal-install-dir/sites/default/files/civicrm/upload/Config.IDS.ini

if your civicrm upload files are in another site directory (ie. you have several sites working off the same codebase), adjust accordingly.

Thanks for the information.  This worked for me too, but I chose to edit the information in the file.  I had copied a production site to a new staging server for updates and testing, and the path values were incorrect, causing the error when accessing CiviCRM.  I changed the path values to reflect the location of the Drupal installation, and all was well.

I deleted this file in a Drupal 6 / CiviCRM 2.2 installation and now it works.

Don't know why and don't really want to know why, but it works now.

drupal-install-dir/sites/default/files/civicrm/upload/Config.IDS.ini
Try CiviTeacher: the online video tutorial CiviCRM learning library.

This works for me too, but the file is at another place :

drupal 6.15
Civicrm 3.1.1

drupal/sites/default/files/civicrm/templates_c/en_US/ConfigAndLog/Config.IDS.ini

I edited the file and replaced the old directory with the new. works fine.

I was getting

Quote
Exception: XML data could not be loaded. Make sure you specified the correct path. in IDS_Filter_Storage->getFilterFromXML()

after transferring a Drupal 7 and CiviCRM 4.0 site to a development machine.

bridgittem's post above pointed to the right folder for me too.  thank you.

In general when you move existing install you should follow below instructions:
