One thing it doesn't do - but asking nicely may help - is to let the relationships created in the above be 'permissioned' relationships

Just added that feature :) Thanks for the suggestion Pete.

One option to move this forward is to have a sponsor step up and "make it happen". Estimate for this work is 12 hrs @ core billing rate of $75 / hr = $900. If your organization is able to sponsor all or a chunk of this work - that would be great.

Is there already a mih for this? Trying to figure out if my understanding of what this would enable is consistent with what we’re looking for. If so, we could probably fund it.

The functionality we've scoped out (covered by the 12 hr estimate is):
* Instantiate 3 new 'reserved profiles' - one for each contact type (e.g. "Related Individual", "Related Organization","Related Household")
* These profiles would be populated by default w/ the same fields as the existing reserved profiles for "New Individual", "New Organization" ...
* Admins would be able to modify / add core and custom fields to these profiles as needed (as long as fields are consistent profile type)
* Existing hard-coded Related Contact forms would be replaced by these profiles ... so if enduser clicks 'Edit Contact Information' under 'Your Contacts /Organizations' - they would get a form w/ fields defined by the corresponding profile (depending on the contact type of the related contact).

Let me know if this matches what you're looking for. If not, can you describe your requirements / expected flow?

Ah, thank you for explaining. That isn’t what I’m looking for. I want to avoid routing people into CiviCRM if I can help it.

I was able to accomplish what I was looking for by linking to the CiviCRM profile per the directions at:
wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Linking+Profiles

More specifically, the link constructed was:

[siteroot]/profile/edit?reset=1&gid=[Profile ID]&id=[Contact Id]

Where the contact id is the company that the person has the rights to edit via a defined relationship.

Hi Dave

That sounds like a perfect option for our needs. Has there been any movement with this?

Regards

Robbie

No progress yet. If your organization can sponsor all or a decent chunk we can schedule it (or put up and MIH) for 4.3.
