"Could not find valid Key"
October 11, 2008, 06:03:58 pm
I tried searching a lot on the forums but it seems like only people on Drupal were only facing this problem and there was no certain fix for this.

I was importing 300 contacts in pieces of 50s and now when I try and import the last piece I am getting a page with only three lines,

Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

Could not find valid Key

Return to home page.

Joomla 1.5.7
CiviCRM 2.0

Was anyone able to resolve this problem? What is the cause of this problem?

Another update.

I deleted all the contacts and tried import again and there you go. It was working again. Does anyone know this kind of problem. Would there be a limit to number of contacts (What a stupid Question). Could there be a limit to the number of contacts who can be imported? (Another one.)

Sorry guys. But I tried this on two installs and both were only able to take 5 imports and then the same error.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Rohit

can you reproduce this issue on joomla.demo.civicrm.org. i hope not :), i suspect it is some system configuration that is causing the below error (no idea where/what/why etc)

thanx

Lobo,

It's real member's information. Also, the demo site is 2.1 and I am using 2.0

It could very well be configuration but I don't have any way to confirm that.

Thanks
Rohit

Hi Lobo,

An update. I tried the following on joomla.demo.civicrm.org

1. downloaded all the contacts.
2. tried to upload them with "no duplicate checking"
but it gave me an error, non recoverable.

I don't know if this is something which may help you but this is not what I was facing with my importing process.

I was only trying to import the data a number of times so as to see if it stops or gives me some error after some time.

Anyway, is there some debug switch which I can turn on to see what is going wrong.

Thanks

hmm, polestar i'm not sure if this helps or if it's even related, but i've had that same error happen to me before (but not when importing). i finally deduced that it was a session issue where url redirection sent me to the wrong place. for example, i started at http://mysite.organd a civicrm submit page might then send me at some point to http://www.mysite.org in which case the session was lost and i got that error. I fixed it by editing the drupal .htaccess file to always force to one location. so again, this might have nothing to do with your issue, but i figured i'd throw it out there.

that is when the key error came up for me too with different domains going on.
For me I
1. wiped the civicrm template folder.
2. made the field null in civicrm_domain table that had the domain info and paths.
3. Cleared all sessions and ran the reset option from the civicrm install pages
----------------------
civicrm/admin?sessionReset=2&directoryCleanup=1
and
/civicrm/dashboard?reset=1
------------------------
Then I made sure again that my civicrm settings file was the right domain as well.

I think you need to work through the steps Alfred described

You can do step 1 & 3 by turning on debugging in CiviCRM and then
typing in your URL with as he described:

Quote
civicrm/admin?sessionReset=2&directoryCleanup=1
and
/civicrm/dashboard?reset=1
e.g. http://localhost/civicrm/admin?sessionReset=2&directoryCleanup=1

Step 2 involved going into phpmyadmin and issuing the truncate sessions command (to clear out the sessions table).

You also need to check all your settings are pointing to the correct path - read through here & look for the relevant parts.

Prachi,

In our case it was a problem of the path.

Use Firefox+Firebug and it will tell you the path it is trying to access for various CiviCRM functions.
