Hi again,
We executed the script and nothing changed: the double opt-in via profile still saves the data without sending a confirmation. Also, the profiles are still "corrupt", meaning that when you edit certain fields (like city), the default value is "Birth Date".
Do you have any other suggestions for us?

Thank you Yashodha,
Cynthia

I would suggest you wait for the next 2.1 release.

Will do Yashodha. In fact, that's what we decided yesterday. I'll post back after the update and let you know if the issue is resolved.

Thanks for all your help,
Cynthia

Re: Can't get double opt-in via list subscription from profile to work

Hello again,
We finally upgraded to 2.1.2 so I thought I would retest this. Here is what I discovered:

On our internal site:
  1. I created a profile and did not associate it with any group
  2. email was a required field but also present was first name, last name and address
  3. When I clicked on http://sitename/civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=10, I was presented with the profile and,
under that, was a list of all the public groups
  4. I filled out the form, checked the box for my mailing list group and clicked on "Save"
  5. I received a message that said "Thank You. Your information has been saved"
  6. Sure enough, I was in the datbase with all the info I had entered on the form and I had been added to the group: no
     confirmation was sent

On the demo site I experienced something very different:
  1. I created a profile and did not associate it with any group. The profile is called "Test subscription confirmation", GID=7
  2. I created a mailing list group called "Subscription confirmation group", GID=16
  3. email was a required field but also present was first name, last name and address
  4. When I clicked on http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/profile/create?reset=1&gid=7, I was presented with the profile BUT
there were no groups listed underneath as had been in the test with our internal site

I am not sure how to procede from here. I am glad to help in any way but can you offer any suggestions about what to do next?

Thanks,
Cynthia

Cynthia:

Is it possible for you to give me access to your install ? It would be easier and faster to debug your issue..

Hello Kurund,
I hope you are doing well.

What kind of access would you need?
We are once again hosting externally and the guy I work with for backend support said: "I can make him a temporary user with no sudo rights if you like, which is the level of access I would give to an outside developer (if I had to give any at all).  Since he is engineering the fix, and it's not really clear what they are doing to fix it, I would give him some access or offer to send him a db dump instead (which also helps civicrm devs fix / diagnose problems)."

What would be easiest for you? I think he is afraid that you might change something on the backend and he is leary of having that happen without knowing what you are changing. I can understand that but I do appreciate and want you help.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Cynthia

Cynthia :

I would require login credential to your drupal install and ssh access to your server.

Kurund,
But would you change anything or just troubleshoot?

Thanks,
Cynthia

Kurund,
We have an account set up for you but I do not want to post details to the forum. May I email you off-line? If so, which email address should I use?

Thanks so much,
Cynthia

Kurund,
Since our host will not allow us to give you full sudo rights, could we send you a dump of our data?
Also, in case this helps: I was able to "sort of" replicate this issue on the civicrm demo site. I know that the demo site does not send emails out but, when I click on “submit” it does say “the information has been saved”. When  I tested a few weeks ago it said “an email has been sent”, but now it does not say that. At least it didn’t a few days ago.
So maybe you can look into on the demo where I am sure you have full sudo rights.

Just a suggestion.

As always, thanks for your help
Cynthia

Cynthia,

This is bug in CiviCRM 2.1.x. Filed and fixed http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3918 . You can get the fix from http://fisheye.civicrm.org/changelog/CiviCRM/?cs=18649

Thanx for your help to fix this bug.
