attachments broken on upgrade to 2.2 stable from beta

We've been happily sending people attachments from the email activity until i applied the upgrade to 2.2 stable from the last beta.

Attachments are now inserted into the body of the text, appearing as a load of unintelligible text at the end of the email rather than as attachments.

I'll try to replicate this on my sandbox tomorrow. Might help if you can tell me what type of file you're attaching (.doc, .png, ...?) so I can try the exact same steps. Also might help if you attach the complete email (including headers, etc.). Of course any private / personal info should be disguised.

i reproduced this bug locally :( and filed an issue: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-4261

this will be fixed in 2.2.1

As a coda to this - when a contact is set to receive both plain and html mails - but their client is set to plain - both are sent and the html message is appended to the end of the text with the same text with html markup visible.

this is now fixed and will be part of the next release. The Content-Type header was not being set properly (i.e.multipart for text/html/attachments)

That's great news... but is there anyway for me to patch my existing system - this being broken is causing revolts amongst users at a critical time of change.
