Unable to select Countries in localization
May 18, 2009, 08:32:48 am
This occured in version 2.2.2 and is in 2.2.3.

When I go into localization and select all of the countries, all countries from San Marino onwards are not saved in the Available Countries area.

I have also tried adding all of the states from the left coumn to the right which does not work.

All of the countries move across, I click on SAVE go back in and they are all back on the left hand side.

Any help would be great as this is holding up my entire deployment - can I manually add to the database ?

can you reproduce this on the demo machine?

http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/localization?reset=1

I tried and could not reproduce

if you are a developer, you might also be interested in the UK training camp: http://civicrm.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=4

It works fine on the demo machine.

I will look at any local issues to see if the problem is there

I have created a fresh install of CiviCRM on another server and quite rightly it works as expected.

I could easily uninstall, and clear the tables from the site I am having problems with but I have put a lot of work into this site already and do not want to start again.

Can anyone advise how I can clear out country and related tables and import a fresh set of data. When I try and clear down I get a foreign key error

I am getting incredibly frustrated with CiviCRM now.

Uninstall totally from Joomla, painstakingly removed all of the tables.

Fresh install and database - localization and cannot select any countries from San Marino onwards to be available. Even my default country cannot be selected which is the UK. I know it can work as I said earlier I installed a fresh copy on a different server, but just not in this environment.

Is there anything that can be done with this at all or should I throw in the towel and look elsewhere for a CRM package ?

if it works on one of your servers but not the other (and it works on quite a few other servers out there), the logical culprit is some server specific issue

At this stage your options are to try to debug and figure out the differences, seek help from someone at http://civicrm.org/professional/ or switch to another package

Not sure if this gives some clue as to where the problem could be.

I remove some of the countries from the Right Hand list then add some from the left hand list and these are accepted and saved. It looks as if there is a limit on how may countries one can have in the list.

Have you checked webserver logs to see if an error is logged when the update fails? Wondering if there's a PHP memory limitation that's causing this - which should be reported in logs.
