Extensions / civisms with tillio testing hangs: how debug?
« Last post by oak on June 16, 2017, 12:42:15 pm »
I am trying to use the sms extension for civicrm. When i select a contact and try 'outbound sms' from the dropdown menu. Type message, click send. Then I get a spinning civicrm logo. Any idea how to start debugging this?

CiviVolunteer / emails & volunteer interest form
« Last post by mcharnoky on May 31, 2017, 08:44:49 pm »
I have a couple questions regarding the ability to trigger emails from the "volunteer interest" form ( I basically want to be able to:

1) Send a confirmation email to a potential volunteer who signs up using the volunteer interest form
2) Send an email to a volunteer coordinator to notify them about the signup

I see that this functionality is available for profiles ( "Add new contacts to a group" and "Notify when profile form is submitted"). Also, the volunteer interest form appears to be implemented with profiles. Seems like a slam dunk, but it apparently you can't access the settings for a "reserved profile"! (in Administer > Customize > Profiles > Reserved Profiles tab). Is there something I'm missing here? Is email triggering possible for this form?

Sorry, i do not check these responses regulary.

I removed the extension two weeks after my post.
I have installed now the old extension from github with the change of johanv

 $l10n = $config->gettextResourceDir;    =>  $l10n = CRM_Core_I18n::getResourceDir();

After testing this patch, i think it is not enough.
The check to do only once a day the update is wrong. $delay is not the number seconds in one day.
The directory creation is done if the mo-file does not exists, not if the directory does not exists.

See in the attachement the updated function l10nupdate_download.

The extension will now try to download
(I have one single-lingual site with only Dutch)
The first file is downloaded and installed. The second file is missing, and local created empty.

The extension is very slow, if there are updates. There must be one problem with CRM_Core_Session::setStatus.
I have used this setStatus function (without  if (!empty($downloaded))) and i still get a timeout.
I think the code "Output a nicely formatted message" must be after the loop "foreach ($locales as $locale)"
But that won't solve the time-out, without the CRM_Core_Session::setStatus there is no time-out.

In the attachment my version (txt, because php is not allowed)

Actually, I was only seeing a blank screen because I was running some experimental code in my sandbox. Once I addressed that, everything else worked as expected.

Chances are this is a JavaScript error. You may be able to find out more about what's going on by following these debugging tips.

If you don't get anything from that, try checking your CiviCRM error logs, and failing that, your server's error log. Post your findings here and we may be able to help you.

If you are not able to perform these debugging steps yourself, feel free to get in touch at for paid support.

I'm guessing something has changed in a recent CiviCRM release. Hard to keep up since the releases are monthly now. Will post what I find.
CiviVolunteer / New Volunteer Project - Blank Page
« Last post by sapa on April 23, 2017, 07:00:45 am »

I'm unable to get any results when trying to start a new volunteer project.  The page is blank with no errors returned.  Any ideas of what could be the cause?

I'm using Drupal 7.54, CiviCRM 4.7.18, MySQL 5.1.73.

Hi, Bruce,

This looks like a JavaScript error. You may be able to find out more about what's going on by following these debugging tips.

CiviVolunteer 2.2.1 is compatible with CiviCRM 4.7.17, but there is an issue between CiviCRM and Joomla that may make the extension unusable. (The issue in question would not be responsible for what you're describing, though.) The issue need to be fixed in CiviCRM core. I think I've identified an approach that will work, but I'm estimating it at a day's worth of developer effort, and I haven't been able to find funding for it, even though it affects the ability for Joomla to use a number of CiviCRM extensions.

If your organization might be able to fund the work, please get in touch at
