[solved] unable to create Joomla user account through CiviCRM profile creation

Hey there, I've read bunch of posts on this issue but none of them seemed to apply - any help is much appreciated.

I can't figure out how to create a Joomla user account through the creation of a CiviCRM profile. In the profile Advanced Settings section I have checked the appropriate option for Joomla user account registration option? (tried both Give option, but not required and Account creation required).

Then I added a Profile Create menu item and selected the appropriate profile in the parameters section. When trying to create the profile in the front end, I don't see the typical Joomla user account fields (e.g. username, password, email), only the CiviCRM fields in the profile form.

Any ideas what else I could check on? Thanks a lot...

(Joomla 1.5.15, CiviCRM 3.0.2, PHP 5)

are you trying this as a logged in user / administrator?

if so, please try as an anonymous user

Thanks, Lobo. I'm trying to create the new profile as anonymous user (not logged in at all)
Any other ideas would be much appreciated

Under the Joomla admin menu: Site >> Global Settings >> System -> User Settings - do you have "Allow User Registration" set to YES?

good catch - I am a heavy Community Builder user and so am "programmed" to leaving it set to "No"
