Redirect Loop on CiviContribute page

Hello,

I have been tinkering around with Civi and I think that it will fit our needs perfectly IF I can get it to work.
I have configured our memberships (simple four kinds of memberships - and one test membership for $1)
I created a profile to collect name address and whether or not they want a print subscription to our newsletter. I would like to have the profile automatically create user in Wordpress, but this feature is turned off for now.
I set up a Contribution page for members to join or renew.
Paypal Standard is set up as the payment processor and assigned to the contribution page.
All of this seems pretty straight forward after reading the documentation...
But when you click on "confirm contribution" it gets stuck in a redirect loop. I have looked trough the forums and found one similar issue and bumped it but there has been no response...
So help!? I would like to resolve this so I can feel comfortable telling the Board that I have found an awesome new solution and start moving our data over, but obviously I can't do that if members can't renew and join!
I am not a developer by any stretch of the imagination but would consider myself an advanced user. So speak slowly and clearly

Can you try a base theme for WordPress and see if that helps? Perhaps it's your theme.
