Loggin in url CiviCRM and Joomla
September 29, 2009, 02:55:37 am
I am wondering in a noobi kind of way is there a login url for joomla and civi?
I understand Joomla and civic profiles linked to menus.
But lets say I have different membre groups and subscription levels (CIviC memberships).
Where / how can I get a login to let civi know that a member has logged in?
Is there a seperate civi login screen as opposed to standard joomla?

I have seen the member authentication plugins for Joomla which look very handy and I can forsee needing a member / group sync for Joomla ACLs - but right now how does a member login to civi?

cheers
Alan

CiviCRM does not have a separate login. Users must login to the Joomla Administration portion of your site to access CiviCRM "back-office" and admin functions. The Joomla menu manager can be used to provide specific front-end access to some CiviCRM features for anonymous or logged in users. Examples include Online Contribution pages, Event Registration pages, CiviCRM profile forms for creating or editing "your" contact record in Civi.

You can also integrate registering for a Joomla user account WITH some CiviCRM front-end forms (like those above).

If you haven't read through the Understanding CiviCRM book - there's info on these features there:
