hello civicrm, thnax for the continious help yu keep providing. please i want to know if civicrm allows its created members to view thier profile and alter things in thier profile at the front end. will be very grateful if yu cld help me with this. thanx again

Nope. You cannot edit membership using profile in front-end.

I don't think they were asking if you could edit membership but you can edit the profiles in the front end.  They can edit their Name and Email address.

Members can see or edit quite a bit from the front end - if a profile is set up  you can edit the fields in that profile (in Joomla, pick an 'edit profile' menu item or a 'view profile' one depending what you want). As was said above this doesn't allow you to edit memberships, but it does allow members to update their details and custom fields. You can create a profile just for this purpose or reuse one of the others - certainly you can go quite a way beyond name and email into tags etc.

Also if you pick the dashboard menu item members can potentially join and unjoin groups from there too, plus of course if you just want them to be able to see their membership information, that's what the dashboard is mainly about. Note that you control what they see in the dashboard via the admin settings in the back-end (using tickboxes to turn options on/off), not by setting up a profile.
