Civi 2.2

I have 2 groups that are mailing list groups. My org wants all contacts added in CiviCRM automatically added to these 2 groups. Mailing lists can't be smart groups (without some other hacking) and besides I don't want to have to edit the smart group criteria every time a new tag is added. Is there a setting at present to auto add new contacts to specific groups?

Smart groups can't be mailing groups ?

IMO u can have smart group for mailings.

but there are some edge case scenario's where smart group might going to fail for mailings.
( eg : smart group created from some custom searches )

hmmm i recall there being an issue with the subscription form not showing smart groups w/o a hack, but maybe that's not an issue anymore in 2.2. i'll check it out.
