Working with OG, Civi Groups, Activities and Events
October 01, 2009, 03:17:09 am
We are working on a way to integrate a kind of "project management" into CiviCRM and wondering if we're taking the best approach, and any pointers people can provide.

We plan to have an "Internal" part of projects handled by Civi, and an "External" part handled by OG - I guess this is quite standard and will be handled by the OG Group Sync tool which seems to work quite nicely apart from being only one way and not working with delete - but we can live with that!

The point is that internally, we then want to create events and activities that are then associated with these groups based on contacts being members. So, we need to add in the functionality of associating all CiviEvents and Activities to a group.

WE would then use CiviReport to produce reports such as:

List of events in a particular project
List of participants in all events of a particular type in a particular project

etc. etc... could go on forever :)

Does this sound doable, and, do you foresee any major stumbling blocks in taking this approach? ie. to associate all activities/events with a group? Also if you have any idea about the best way to approach it, would be really cool!

Thanks for any insights!

Adam
