THE THREAD I ORIGINALLY POSTED HERE IS MOOT AS IT PERTAINED TO A BUG IN 3.0.0 THAT HAS BEEN FIXED IN 3.0.1

Will - thx for the heads up on the Standalone Upgrade doc. I've made more permanent changes to the section which covers selecting the code tarball (should use standalone version as you stated). Folks on the team are looking at the problematic Activity queries.
