Want to display search results for custom data, struggling!
October 05, 2009, 01:49:41 pm
Hello-

I've been reading up on how to display search results on the admin side for custom data that I've collected. Seems as though I should be able to create a profile, add the custom fields that I want, change the visibility to public pages, and then check the results column checkbox, and then use that in my "search views" option in advanced search.. Does this only work through the front end or can I do it from the admin side using Advanced Search?

My main hangup is that I get an error saying "You can not mark fields as Searchable in a profile that contains fields for multiple record types." I get a similar error when trying use only Participant records.

So how do I search through my participants on the admin side and return results columns for each of the fields in the profile I'm using?

FYI I followed this and was unable to make it happen because of the error message above:

The error indicates that you have one or more fields in the profile that you're trying to use for Adv Search search views that belong to a record type other than Contact (or a type of contact) - e.g. a "Participant" or "Contribution" core or custom field. This is not supported in search views. Depending on what you're actually trying to expose, you might need to create / use a custom search.
