How can I create a self-service mailing list area using CiviCRM with Joomla?  I would like it to be like the page at: http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/mailing/subscribe?reset=1

that form currently does not support profile functionality. A contribution or code sponsorship to add it would be great :)

You can include mailing list signup IN a profile and expose to front-end. Add the "Groups" field to a profile - all Mailing List type groups will show up as check boxes.
