[SOLVED] Install does not seem to complete
October 08, 2009, 08:03:47 am
I have attempted to install CiviCRM a few times in both a clean Joomla installation and an existing Joomla site.  The installation says it completes successfully, but no settings file is ever created, so both the front-end and back-end appear incorrectly (no css, images, js, etc.).

During install, the following error is reported by the logs: PHP Notice:  Undefined index:  host in /(absolute path)/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/Config.php on line 416, referer: http://(domainname)/administrator/index2.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/configtask&reset=1

I have confirmed this is not an open_basedir issue by disabling that feature on this site.  I cannot find any other forum posts on this error.  Of course, I have also checked permissions, FTP layer issues, and made sure the server has the latest updates available for this OS.  I have tried installing with and without SEO and .htaccess enabled.  I have tried totally clean databases and also existing site databases.  I have also tried both the normal and ALT downloads of Civi.

I am lost.  Any input someone could provide would be extremely helpful.  Maybe I'm missing an important PHP extension?

I am using:
- Joomla 1.5.14
- CentOS 5.3 (brand new install and updates w/ DTC control panel, but I don't think that matters)
- PHP 5.2.9 (execution time set to 2400 and memory limit set to 128M, both just to see if that would help)
- MySQL 5.0.82

Thanks you in advance!

The standalone version seems to work just fine.  There are a few errors like this one during install: PHP Notice:  Undefined index:  q in /(absolute path)/civicrm/standalone/index.php on line 15, referer: http://(domain name)/civicrm/install/index.php.  But they don't seem to affect the operation.

So from that, can I conclude that the PHP and database functions are just fine and there's some problem with the interaction with Joomla?

I have tried the Joomla install both in a sub-folder (i.e. http://domainname/subfoldername) and in the domain root (i.e. http://domainname).

Okay, so still can't figure out the error message, but based on other users similar reports of missing Resource URLs, I did some hunting.  After trial and error, I got the right URL and it started working.

Maybe this is somewhere in the documentation, but I couldn't find it.

Just in case anyone's interested (which I have a feeling they might be), here is the correct URL:
http://(domainname)/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm
