Lokalisation is broke after upgrade from 2.2.9 to 3.0.1

Hi,

I can't swithc to dutch language anymore sinds I use 3.0.
This is also the case in the joomla demo site http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org

The language is available and I can select it, but it doesn't switch after pressing save!

What can be wrong?

Edwin.

Hey,

I checked on Joomla site and was able to replicate the issue. However, if you add dutch language pack in Joomla interface, and switch the language there, CiviCRM will switch as well - it's following Joomla language choice.

This way or the other, I have reopened http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-5027 and we'll investigate it further.

Thx,
m

Hi Michał

I had J. set to dutch language before I installed language pack. But Civi didn't folow the language setting.
I"ll try to switch to english first en switch back to Dutch.

Edwin

Wait......

Yes, I tried it. If I switch from Eng to Dutch. Civi folows the language.

It’s a bit of a chicken-and-egg problem: for language inheritance to work (and to allow switching CiviCRM languages when the framework language changes), the framework language selection needs to trump CiviCRM language. This means that if you have any language explicitly selected in the framework, you cannot have a different language set in CiviCRM.

I think we’ll simply introduce a checkbox in CiviCRM 3.1 for whether the language selection should be inherited from the framework or not.
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.
