Custom Profile on User Registration

I'm noticing that any email field I add to a custom profile is not getting displayed on the registration page.
The field help will display, but no label or field on the registration page.
On the edit page, it works fine.
I also tested this on the demo site, in the Name and Address profile.
So how do I input emails on registration?

Yes, we intentionally suppress the email field if present on registration. Drupal registration also has an email field which we copy from, and having two email fields is confusing. hence the code to suppress it

If this is a 'feature' then the help text should also be suppressed.

Then nobody will know it is supposed to be there.
And we can leave the field in the profile so it appears on edit, etc.

Can you please file an issue against 1.8. I suspect its an easy fix and we'll fix it for the next 1.8 revision release (if trivial)
