CiviCRM for contact management?
October 12, 2009, 07:24:21 pm
Wondering if this will work for just a contact manager?  It has a lot of wonderful functions but we are not far along enough yet to need most of them.  What I'm looking for is something that just keeps keeps us up to date on contacts like goldmine.  Where we can have different groups and within those groups have lists of contacts where we can keep the information up to date as far as last contact when and by whom with reminders about follow ups and things of that nature.

Hey,

Seems like CiviCRM has all the functionality that you describe - you probably need to give it a try and see if built-in workflows do the trick for you. You can use http://demo.civicrm.org as test installation.

Also maybe others on the forum could share their experience with this type of usage.

Thx,
m

It will absolutely do that for you.  In fact, after installation you can go to CiviCRM » Administer CiviCRM » Global Settings and disable all the extra components.  Then the only functions left in the Navigation bar will be Contacts and Administer.

Hi, I'm interested in using it for a non-profit energy saving group. I am personally a long time ACT! user since launch - now on 2009 v11. The group needs a system available remotely over the net but cannot afford the multiple web licensing require for ACT!

Please let us know how you are getting on with your test of CivCRM - as a Goldmine user you will be coming from much the same place as me.

Cheers, Brian
