Choosing the sender's address isn't an option anymore?

Hi,

On the previous version of civimail, you could choose the sender and type whatever you wanted. Now it's only the predefined mail from addresses.

Regression or new feature ? And can we add it back easily ?

From looking thru jira and the 2.1 and 2.2 code, it looks to me like we went from 'open' text fields for from name and email address (with default = domain FROM name and address) in 2.1, directly to using the option values list in the dropdown in v2.2.

http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-3552

The "Send Email to Contact" supports both FROM Email option list values AND the logged in users email. But I don't see that CiviMail ever did this. If you can point us to a version where both options were available for CiviMail - that would be helpful.

NOTE: There were some concerns in the community about allowing "personal" emails as the FROM address in mass mailings - so I'm not sure if we should support this going forward - or how to do it in a way that doesn't create risks for orgs that don't want that option to be available.
