sendmail returned error code 8
October 13, 2009, 01:45:36 pm
I am getting: sendmail returned error code 8 (sometimes error code 1) When I go to complete a donation.

If the contact has an account existing it the error does not come up only new accounts.

On the new accounts the email does not get saved to the record either...

I have tested a mail from the admin portion of civiCRM and that work just fine, the events pages work fine to.

I am using Joomla 1.5 and Civi 3.0 I have had this same issue the whole beta series. This issue did not come up under the 2.2 series...

Any help would be appreciated. The site is www.FOCUSNorthAmerica.org

the core team uses smtp as their mail provider. our knowledge of sendmail is quite elementary. you might want to do a few google searches and try to debug the below error. please do post back your findings so others can benefit

thanx

Lobo,

When I use the SMTP I get the following: Failed to add recipient: @localhost [SMTP: recipient is not recognized (code: 501, response: <@localhost>: no local part)]

When I run the test from the admin it works fine. The email is not being saved in the database either it is being deleted.

hey jacob:

u'll need to dig a bit deeper and search for the meaning of that error message etc. Most likely it is the From address that the mail server does not like.

If you cannot make progress on this, i recommend u hire someone from http://civicrm.org/professional/ to help you sort this out

Lobo,

It is not the email address:

When I test through the admin I get an email that says this:

SMTP settings are correct.

It has to do with the email address not getting injected into database.

Who do you recommend I need a php mysql expert not a template Jockie

Thanks,

J
