Patching CiviCRM from SVN
October 15, 2009, 03:16:50 am
Hi,

I have some questions about patching CiviCRM with issue fixes from SVN.

(I used to use Fisheye, but it appears that tool is no longer accessible ???)

(I've obtained a copy of the CiviCRM SVN repository and I'm using kdesvn as my SVN client)

Let's say I want to apply the patch for issue CRM-IIII which has a comment that the issue was fixed for release X.X.X in revision FFFFF and verified in revision VVVVV

Please tell me if the following assumptions are correct ...

  • I should use branch/X.X rather than trunk (trunk can include other changes beside the ones I want)
  • I should use VVVVV rather than FFFFF (as it's better tested)
  • I can assume safely that no unnamed revisions contain changed related to this fix (ie, the CRM-IIII issue contains a comprehensive list of relevant revisions)

Thanks,
Ken

on irc michau just said "fisheye is in new location, still being tested: http://fisheye2.atlassian.com/browse/CiviCRM" in case that helps.

hey ken:

you cannot make the third assumption )that all revisions are included in the issue). We try to do it for all issues, but i suspect fail for some % of them
