Installation was "successful" but can't access
October 16, 2009, 08:02:09 am
I installed CiviCRM on Joomla 1.5X and when the install finishes I get this message
"Install Component Success
CiviCRM
CiviCRM component files have been UPGRADED succesfully.
Please run the CiviCRM Database Upgrade Utility now. This utility will check your database and perform any needed upgrades.

Also review the upgrade documentation for any additional steps required to complete this upgrade."

I'm a little confused because this wasn't an upgrade it was supposed to be a complete install.

When I go to get into the dashboard for CiviCRM all I get is the control panel refreshing.

HELP!

in general, please do not piggyback on an existing forum thread.

seems like the required tables were not created, i suspect the install did not complete. You might want to clean up the database and try the installation again

Re: Installation was "successful" but can't access naviagation menu

I have a problem similar to that of SCLS.

I did what I thought was a new install.  But got the successful upgrade message.  Then when I went to Joomla Components, I found CIVICRM, but no submenus.  When I click CIVICRM, I get the CiviCRM Home page.  But the main navigation block is missing: no Administer CiviCRM link.

Any suggestions?

Using the crash and burn method, I deleted all of the civicrm files under Admininistrator and Components, and removed all of the civicrm tables from my Joomla 1.5 database.  I then unzipped  civicrm-3.0.1-joomla-alt.zip and re-upped the com_civicrm folder to /tmp on my server.  Did the Install from Directory.

This time it said "installed correctly" without mentioning upgrading.  But ultimately the same results--no civicrm navigation menu.  Can only access the page which allows me to create "new"...

Really need help on this one.

most likely this is because your install did not complete properly (due to server limitations etc). CiviCRM takes a fair number of resources to install and run

At this point, we'd recommend you hire someone from http://civicrm.org/professional/ to help you with the install
