Notice on contact types in API Contact

I use a number of API's to load households into CiviCRM (civicrm_contact_add, civicrm_location_add, civicrm_contact_group_add) and using these I get a notice from the Contact function in BAO:

Notice: Undefined index: contact_type in C:\wamp\www\speeltuin\sites\all\modules\civicrm\CRM\Contact\BAO\Contact.php on line 424
This also occurs for line 428 and 432. Any ideas before I start digging? Much appreciated..........!

in most cases yes. But we do consider it a bug and like to fix / clean it :)

I agree! I am just trying to decide whether to upgrade before my upcoming session on Thursday and not show them the result of the interface, or show them the interface and than upgrade later. The advantage of the latter is user enthusiasm and faith in the project  :)
