Need add-ons for CiviCRM for classes and tuition

We're needing some additions to CiviCRM. The discussion on it can be found here: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,10408.0.html

We need it to work in such a way that developers won't be needed when the school needs to add more classes, students, etc.

We're looking for something we can contribute back to the CiviCRM community. Something that could at some point become a feature along the lines of CiviSchool, CiviClass, etc. I know a lot of schools are looking for something similar.

Preference is for companies in the United States.

Anyone? This is badly needed. Otherwise, the client will be going with another solution instead of CiviCRM.

If you are willing to look out side of US, have you followed up lobo's suggestion of webaccess?
