Profile returns no records on site, lots of records from back end
October 20, 2009, 09:42:37 pm
I'm using CiviCRM 3.0.1 and Joomla 1.5.14. I've created a group called "Publication Members" and added about 300 contacts to it. When I'm in the back end and have CiviCRM bring up a list of group members (using Search -- Find contacts, then selecting the "Publication Members" group, I see all of the records. It tells me I'm loking at:

306 Results  Member of Group IN Publication Member ...AND...
Group Status - "Added"

But when I try to see the records from the front end (bringing up a search form that points at a profile tied to that group), I get no results. It says:

No matches found for:
Member of Group IN Publication Member ...AND...
Group Status - "Added"

Why does CiviCRM find 306 group members from the back and none from the front end?

I'm using some custom fields, and they've all been assigned to "Contacts." All of the fields in the profiles are part of "Contacts" -- there's no mixing of types.

Two other profiles that bring up "individual" contacts are working fine from the front end, so I know Joomla will show search results. But the "Publication Member" search and another search that should bring up "organization" contacts (rather than individuals) don't work.

Is there something special I need to do to show organizations in a search?

Might be an access right issue.

Is the group visibility admin only ?

The group visibility is set to "Public Pages."

The problem seems to be that I can't show organization records from the front end. I created a basic profile called "All," and set it to show only the "state" field with no further qualifier, and when I look at that through a Joomla search it comes up empty. When I change that profile show show records in a group that contains individual records, they come up fine. When I set it to shows members in a group that contains organizational records, it comes up empty. And when I set it to show records regardless of group it comes up empty. So it seems that if the search result includes organizations, I get nothing.

Any more ideas? Things I could test?

My custom data fields are all in the "all contact types" group. Can I use "all contact types" fields on an organization profile?

1. does the same profile with organizations work in the backend?

2. Can you setup and reproduce this on http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/

thanx

The profile works in the back end. I can use "advanced search" and select that profile and the group it's set to, and it brings up the right results.

I'm not sure if I can replicate it on the demo site, although I can try. Or, if you're willing to take a look, I'd be willing to set up admin access for you on my site.

I wound up just nuking my installation and starting again with a fresh install. Must have been a file or table entry that got messed up somewhere. Finding that I couldn't replicate the problem on the demo server made that clear. Thanks for the suggestion.
