Using favicons for organisation contacts (and possibly individuals)
October 20, 2009, 11:08:25 pm
Hi,

Instead of displaying the default organisation icons, eg in the search result, I'm thinking about using the favicon of the site of the organisation.
What do you think ?

I'd also be tempted by putting the ico on the individuals being employed by the org. eg putting the civicrm icon next to Lobo.

From a technical pov:
- not using the ugly <img ...> html blob but <tr class="organization" as the default and override with a style=background-image:url(org.favicon...)

Where to store the image path ? in the existing (hidden) field in the civicrm_contact ?

Hey,

Sounds like a nice idea - however, you might end up with a lot of Drupal and Joomla default icons in your contact list.

Just so you know, there is work going on for 3.1 (around contact subtype) to display icons via style sheets.

Thx,
m
