Joomla backend access from manager role

Is there any way to allow backend access to CiviCRM without giving SuperAdministrator access to the backend.  When I choose Manager or Administrator, access it denied.  I have found a fix to get access to the component page, but can't get to any of the functions to work.  They all go to a "website cannot be displayed" HTTP 500 Internal Server Errir page.  I don't want to give SuperAdministrator access to everyone.  How can I get around this.  I have been looking through the forums and have not found a straight-forward answer.

Found my issue... if the login matches a contact on the site, it will not allow back-end access regardless of back-end setting.  Deleted the matching contact and everything is working fine.
