CiviEvents 2.2.8 and Drupal Account Creation
October 22, 2009, 07:24:55 pm
I have a fairly simple site I'm working on with the following characteristics:

Drupal 6.x
CiviCRM 2.2.8
Drupal account creation: Email verification turned off (admin approval only)

My problem is, I've set up CiviEvents to collect additional info via a custom profile (and create a new Drupal account) when somone tries to register, but Drupal throws an error after the registration form is submitted.

The profile uses standard Civi fields:  Name, Street Address, City, State, Zip, Phone, Fax.  All but the phone #'s are required.  No email address.  Profile is set to allow account creation.

I've set the event's config to put this profile form at the "Top" of the event registration page.

When I try to register as an anonymous user, it lets me enter my email address at the very top of the form, pick a username, and enter the additional information for the profile.  Then I click "Continue" and I'm sent to the front page of the site with an error message that reads "E-mail address field is required".  My entire registration has been forgotten and I'm back to square one.

This message appears to be a Drupal error message, rather than the ugly CiviCRM stacktrace I usually get when CiviCRM crashes.

I don't understand why this error occurs, though, since the email is obviously collected on the form.

Things I've tried:  Tried adding the civicrm "Primary Email Address" to the custom profile form, but that has no effect.  Tried making account creation mandatory, no effect.

Can anyone explain why I'm getting this error message, even though an email address is being provided on the form?

Did I ask my question incorrectly?  No one has anything to say on this?

from the help on the profile settings page regarding CMS User Creation:

This feature requires the 'Email Verification' option to be checked (Drupal User Settings).

You might want to turn it on and see if it works
