Do profiles have support for translation?
October 23, 2009, 05:17:47 am
Are the profiles translatable or do I need to create multiple language profiles of a single profile type?

Thanks,

Mikael

you mean the data within each profile (i.e. field name etc?)

if so, u'll need to create multiple language profiles for each profile type

Yes, that is what I meant. Would it not be good to have multiple language support for those fields?

Thanks,

Mikael

If you mean the labels of the profile fields, these can have multiple values if you’re using a multilingual CiviCRM installation; the civicrm_uf_group.label and civicrm_uf_field.label are localisable (simply switch the current language to edit the label).

If you mean the actual data that users input, this is not supported, because we failed to come up with sensible use cases (while having the same data in various languages might often lead to data discrepancy without the information of which language version of the data is the right one).
If you found the above helpful, please consider helping us in return – you can even steer CiviCRM’s future and help us extend CiviCRM in ways useful to you.
