Import checkbox field data?
August 30, 2007, 02:28:01 am
Sorry if this is answered elsewhere, couldn't find it...

How does one import data for a custom field with multiple checkboxes, that is, where there are multiple choices, any of which could be true? I can import *any one* checked box into the custom field via any one label, but not multiples. Is there some special syntax I should be using in my .csv file?

No, I had read this. It just didn't have the answer.

The situation is: One custom field, multiple checkboxes/labels within that field. How does one import data to populate *all* the appropriate checked (=true) boxes? I can do any one box in the custom field per record, but not multiple boxes. For example, for a field Colors with the listed choices Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, if I have a record where both Red and Yellow are true, I can't import the complete data. I can import Red OR Yellow OR (none) depending on the chosen mapping, but never more than one. I am thinking that it can't be done, at least with the Import feature, but if someone knows for sure...

You are right. It cannot be done by the current import feature. You will need to extend import or write a custom importer for your data
