Multiple records in custom data group
October 25, 2009, 01:37:41 am
Hi All

I am creating a custom data group which will require multiple records for each individual. I have looked at the documentation and it says I should be able to check the box for allow multiple records, but I cant find the allow multiple records box?    I am using version 3.0.0 on a Joomla installation. Is there a global setting for this, that I need to configure, or am I missing something?

Hi Dave,

When you create a new custom data field, you can select as type "alphanumeric"  and type = select. When you populate the field, you get a dropdownbox with the choiches you defined.

You should see a checkbox in "New Custom Data Group" form - "Does this Custom Data Group allow multiple records?" AFTER you select the "Used For" (record type). This feature is only available currently after you select one of these record types (i.e. only available for contact type records): Contacts, Individuals, Households, Organizations.

You can NOT enable this for an existing custom data group (i.e. you have to enable it at the time you create the custom group). HTH
