I just started getting this error when doing a Find Contacts search. 
https://handson.org/civicrm/contact/search  It's happening in all browsers.

I get this message CRM_Contact_Form_Search_Basic and a blank screen with nothing returned.  If I change the link to http://handson.org/civicrm/contact/search I am able to get to the page but then I can't do any action on the selected records without getting the error again.

Also, when I tried to search on a specific group, I am getting a 500 Server Error.

Any ideas?  It's stopping me from completing their database conversion.

The only thing that I can think is that it is related to some groups that I deleted on Friday. Also, I tried to delete a non-working smart group but was unable to delete or access the group.  It kept throwing a 500 internal server error, otherwise, no change has been made other than that.

I restored a backup from Wed. and everything is fine so the only thing that I can think of is that it has something to do with the buggy smart groups.  Hershel asked about this in an earlier post and we never did get a resolution for this error.

The problem is that the database has new live transactions so I can't rollback to before Friday without losing those transactions.  Any suggestions?  It's stopping me from doing anything with the contact records in CiviCRM at the moment.

Okay...guys, the only logs I know to check is here at https://handson.org/admin/reports/dblog .  Is this what you mean or do I need to check something else?  All I see is alot of Page Not Found errors.

Thank you.  Hershel was offline during the weekend but he checked the log and was able to fix the problem though he does not know why it happened.

The "CRM_Contact_Form_Search_Basic message and blank screen" issue appears to have been due to errant custom code.

The 500 error when searching on smart groups is actually still not resolved.
