Contact merging deletes PCP pages

A PCP mysteriously disappeared from our site sometime yesterday -- deleted from the database.  Upon further inquiry I discovered that someone had merged 3 contact (all the same person), one of which had a PCP.  It would appear that the merging code doesn't preserve PCPs.  Before filing a bug immediately I thought I'd post here to see if anyone else had experienced this, or perhaps this was in some way expected behavior.
