Using Joomla & Standalone version on same database
October 29, 2009, 02:01:49 pm
Is it possible to install a standalone version of CiviCRM and link it to our current Joomla civicrm database so that both installs use the same info? The reason for doing this is to open up some more of the administrator functions of civicrm (using the standalone) while not granting administrator access to the entire Joomla back-end. We want to keep the Joomla install though for all the other functions. Possible?

it is potentially possible but its not a configuration that we support or test. I'm not even sure what issues you'll run into in this configuration and would advise against doing so. If you are super comfortable with php/mysql and investigating large pieces of code / functionality then this might be an option (though i'd definitely advise against it AGAIN)
