Joomla 1.5 - Upgrade 2.2.0 Civi to latest 3.* civic
October 30, 2009, 11:51:21 am
I am attempting to upgrade my civicrm from 2.2.0 to the latest stable versio 3.*.  When I get to the updating of the database it fails saying that something is wrong or it appears I have already updated.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

2. on what step did u get the error

3. what was the exact error message

4. did you do any database changes manually

Kathy is on 2.2.0
The error occurred on the upgarade database step
The error was:
Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

Database check failed - it looks like you have already upgraded to the latest version (v3.0.2) of the database. OR If you think this message is wrong, it is very likely that this a partially upgraded db and you will need to reload the correct db on which upgrade was never tried.

Not recently, but we had some issues on that last upgrade, and I applied the database updates manually.  The system has been running fine since.

If you have a vanilla 2.2.0 .sql file I could load it up and diff the structures to what we have to see where the problem might be.  Otherwise I'll do a vanilla install and get one myself.
I have that option or trying to sync the DB to a 3.0 structure and manually apply the new set of db updates.

The error encountered was:
Database Error Code: Table 'IFF_JoomlaStage.civicrm_report_instance' doesn't exist, 1146

I checked the update code and it looks like this table is created in 2.2.7, we are on 2.2.0

u might want to check that the sql files in:

CRM/Upgrade/Incremental/sql/*

are readable by the web server. Our last mysterious upgrade issue was due to these files not being readable

The files were not protected.  I went into the upgrade scripts, found where the table is created, and created it.  Then I got the following error:

DB Error: constraint violation

Database Error Code: Column 'option_group_id' cannot be null, 1048

I can apply the Db upgrade files manually, one question is what order the alpha and beta upgrades should be run vs the full version  tpl's (e.e which comes first after 3.0.1.mysql.tpl, 3.0.alpha2.mysql.tpl then 3.0.2.mysql.tpl?

Note I am fully restoring the files and database with each try....

the alphas come before the betas which come before the point releases

doing the upgrade manually is not recommended, since there is the php part of the upgrade which is done in code

you might be better off asking the folks at web access (http://civicrm.org/professional/) to take a look at the database and figure out whats happening and why
