Localized date field when importing
November 01, 2009, 07:43:19 am
I am trying to import a date field with the Dutch localization. The format of Dutch dates is 'day-month-year', in POSIX '%E-%m-%Y'. This format is default when exporting csv from Excel.

During importing contacts the closest thing is the format 'dd/mm/yyyy'. This means that a user always has to change the format manually to match the format.

However, in http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Import+Errors I found that one of the correct formatting options was '02-05-2007', which is exactly how I would like it to be. Is this a bug, a misunderstanding in the documentation or can I change the formatting to correctly import dates?

i fixed the docs to match what import expects

For now u will need to reformat the dates manually

If this is important to you, consider submitting a patch to fix the issue

dont see the patch that fixes the issue? in general we do prefer folks also work and submit a patch along with the issue for things that are important to them
