CiviCRM works w/ Views but not Editablefields?

Before I give up and CCK-ify what I wanted to do with Custom Data, is there anything simple that will get me the "Format" select list from the Editablefields Drupal module (allowing "Editable" selection) in CiviCRM Fields (e.g. CiviCRM Participants: Participant Status, CiviCRM Custom: xxx: yyy)?

took a quick look at editable fields module and i dont think so :(
