Joomla & Multi-sites = Weird hybrid 2.2.7 and 3.0 installation (Solved?)
November 01, 2009, 10:43:46 pm
ok, so i'm working for a very large non-profit group on a major site migration, and as part of it, we want to use civi for a great number of things. We're planning on using joomla as our new cms, and i've got a testbed using the joomla multisites plugin (to seperate our subdomains into different joomla installs with a single userbase) and civi 2.2.7 was on the system.
I had a heck of a time getting civi 3 to install, and after a lot of trial and error, finally got the alt package to install into the system.

however, after running the install and then the database upgrade script, i end up with the following.

you'll notice it's the civi 3 dashboard, but it says 2.2.7 at the bottom, plus it's missing the menu. if input the menu urls, i can access them, and I haven't found any components that don't exactly work, but there's obviously SOMETHING wrong here.

i'll be working on this (as it's my job...) and i'll post any results I get, but if anyone can point me in the right direction in the mean time, i'd greatly appreciate it.

can you:

1. truncate the sessions table

2. delete the templates_c folder in the media folder

thanx

1. if the 2.2.7 is still showing up, it means the templates_c directory has not been cleared and its probably hitting some other directory. might want to checkk on that

2. any chance u can disable the multisite and see if u can get one site / one civicrm install upgraded properly. we have not used the multisite module/component so dont know if that is throwing a spanner in the works :)

The css and javascript is referenced via url in the global settings. I suspect that since you are trying to achieve multi-site effect, things are going awry with this reference -- maybe the reference in global settings is to the local site, whereas the files themselves reside elsewhere?

Ok. having tried a few different things, I will now make another update...

I've since disabled multisites and flushed civi from the database.
now, when trying to install civi from a directory on the server (/var/www/globalawakening.com/tmp/civicrm-3.0.1-joomla/com_civicrm) i get the following errors

Quote

Warning: fopen(/var/www/globalawakening.com/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/templates/CRM/common/civicrm.settings.php.tpl) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/globalawakening.com/libraries/joomla/filesystem/file.php on line 240

Warning: fopen(/var/www/globalawakening.com/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/templates/CRM/common/civicrm.settings.php.tpl) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/globalawakening.com/libraries/joomla/filesystem/file.php on line 240

Warning: require_once(DB.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/globalawakening.com/administrator/components/com_civicrm/configure.php on line 118

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'DB.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/globalawakening.com/administrator/components/com_civicrm/configure.php on line 118

When I use the ALT package, i get this

Quote
Cannot execute CREATE TABLE civicrm_payment_processor ( id int unsigned NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT COMMENT 'Payment Processor ID', domain_id int unsigned NOT NULL COMMENT 'Which Domain is this match entry for', name varchar(64) COMMENT 'Payment Processor Name.', description varchar(255) COMMENT 'Payment Processor Description.', payment_processor_type varchar(255) COMMENT 'Payment Processor Type.', is_active tinyint COMMENT 'Is this processor active?', is_default tinyint COMMENT 'Is this processor the default?', is_test tinyint COMMENT 'Is this processor for a test site?', user_name varchar(255) , password varchar(255) , signature varchar(255) , url_site varchar(255) , url_api varchar(255) , url_recur varchar(255) , url_button varchar(255) , subject varchar(255) , class_name varchar(255) , billing_mode int unsigned NOT NULL COMMENT 'Billing Mode', is_recur tinyint COMMENT 'Can process recurring contributions', payment_type int unsigned DEFAULT 1 COMMENT 'Payment Type: Credit or Debit' , PRIMARY KEY ( id ) , UNIQUE INDEX UI_name_test_domain_id( name , is_test , domain_id ) , CONSTRAINT FK_civicrm_payment_processor_domain_id FOREIGN KEY (domain_id) REFERENCES civicrm_domain(id) ) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci: DB Error: can not create

There is no civi installation, there is no civi in the database. This should be a clean install.

Ideas please?

Ok. Blew away the whole test site.

installed Civi.
Then installed multisites.

Seems like this is the only way it works.
