1and1 shared Linux installation
November 02, 2009, 07:47:07 am
I have successfully installed CiviCRM 3.0.2 on 1and1 shared hosting on Joomla 1.5.14.

1. Created a directory for Joomla
2. Created a new MySQL 5 Database
3. Uploaded and installed Joomla in previously created directory
4. renamed htaccess.txt in Joomla root directory into .htaccess
4.1. added a following line of code into .htaccess file: AddType x-mapp-php5 .php   -this is to enable PHP5 on 1and1.com's Beginner Package ($3.99/mo)
5. Uploaded CiviCRM zip archive into web root deirectory;
6. Unzipped the archive into joomlaroot/tmp/  ussing 1and1's WebspaceExplorer
7. Ran "installation from directory" in Joomla Extensions
8. Went through Configuration Checklist.

Issues:
1. can't access Access Control from CiviCRM menu Administer >> Manage >> Access Control
2. enabling SEF URLs in Joomla seems to slow down DB/application response time
3. could not create a new profile in CiviCRM Profile. DB gave some delete error message. Weird.

Trying to run a TestDrive of a contribution page gives an error:
------------------------------
Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.

User Name is not set in the Administer CiviCRM » Payment Processor.

Return to home page.

Issues:
1. can't access Access Control from CiviCRM menu Administer >> Manage >> Access Control

1. Accesss Control is not currently supported for CiviCRM in Joomla (only Drupal and Standalone modes support it). The drop-down menu item should NOT be showing for Joomla installs. I've filed a bug fix for this.

If you are a Joomla developer and interested helping get ACL support for CiviCRM + Joomla - check out this upcoming gathering:

Your testdrive issue seems to be  as described in error message - Username is missing. Did you check your Payment Processor configuration? What processor have you set up?

I have set up Paypal ( PayPal_Standard ) and actually able to accept donations, but Test-Drive doesn't work.

Do you have your "test/sandbox" merchant account email entered in the corresponding field on this form:
