Fresh install of Joomla and Civicrm gets an empty Civicrm menu

The civicrm tab is there but nothing else.  The screen says the menu has been rebuilt, install of CiviCRM 3.0.2

hmm, no idea whats wrong. can u get on irc so we can see your site etc. can we also get ssh access
